The Red Dress Collection kicks off Fashion Week in New York City

Diet Coke sponsors the Red Dress Show

Lucky Duck hits the first runway of Fashion Week 2013.

The Diet Coke and The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Fashion Show is the long-time heart of Fashion Week. The important event, which raises awareness for heart health, always starts Fashion Week off on a beautiful note. And because I now live in New York, I was able to attend this year’s celebration.

Lots of buzz outside. High energy in the doors.

The line was huge, and many people were trying to get last minute, coveted tickets.

There was a lot going on prior to show time, and there was plenty of Diet Coke in the mix.

So what’s showing on The Red Dress runway?

Top tier designers put their expertise to work and dress some of the most fun celebrities in gorgeous red gowns. It’s amazing.

For example – Oscar de la Renta outfitted Kelly Osbourne in an asymmetrical neckline, as well as Minka Kelly. Brenda Strong wore a Marc Bouwer’s draped cowl-neck dress.

Badgley Mischka had huge presence on the Jenners!

When Kris Jenner came out in Badgley Mischka, I nearly cried. Then her daughters came out in my favorite brand!

I was also pretty excited to see Jillian Michaels, Tony Braxton, and Jamie Chung – who I actually hung out at the Badgley Mischka Grand Opening party on Rodeo Drive.

The Finale

After the show concluded, I said hi to Jay Alexander and Jarod from the Subway commercials. One actress from the front row complimented my Badgley Mischka caftan! The buzz was awesome.

And I got my picture on the runway!

A behind the scenes look at me getting ready at home

In this video, you can see me in my room explaining what I’m going to wear and why. I also pick out jewelry and reveal the handbag mess in my closet. It’s your first and only peek at my room in full… Cheers to Fashion Week!

Jason Christopher Peters Fashion Show at Ava Lounge at Dream Hotel

Lucky Duck is VIP in Mid-Town.

My sister Kristen, of Blush Photo (www.blushphoto.net), got us tickets to Jason Christopher Peters’ fashion show last night. Isn’t she adorable?

What we wore

We had a blast getting ready at my apartment beforehand. Here we are describing our fashion in my bedroom.

Enjoying the lounge before show time

The music and open bar were awesome. We ordered a few things to nibble on and chatted about all sorts of stuff as we overlooked Times Square on a drizzly New York night.

As cupcakes sweep the Nation

There was a room of alcohol-infused cupcakes, in three different flavors. I tried every flavor, to see what was best, of course.

And here is some cupcake commentary from Kristen, then me.

It’s Show Time!

I really enjoy attending fashion shows and watching what designers have created. Here’s a quick recap of other cool fashion shows Lucky Duck has attended. You can click each link below to see video from the runway firsthand.

Conception, by Ed in Santa Monica, just got my 4th custom order

Shannon Harms at Zebra Club Fashion Show

Lucky Duck loves Conception creations, so much that we’ve placed our 4th order today.

A look at my favorite top, that Ed made me last year

This black flowy Conception top was a huge hit on the red carpet of The Zebra Club Fashion Show last Fall. I had just flown in from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City, where I had tooled around town in the same piece. It went over just as well in NY as it did here. Ed, Conception’s designer, can’t miss with this design!

Here’s a quick video of me in my room at The Empire explaining what’s going on with the very cool top.

And here’s the top in action, as Kristen and I enjoy a Cuban meal in the City.

Order #1: My new psychedelic caftan

Ed texted me this picture to share his newest caftan design, which I immediately ordered. I can picture myself wearing this in the late Summer/Fall timeframe, up on a breezy terrace, with a pair of strappy heels, holding a glass of wine.

Order #2: Little Mermaid will work, please

And then, on a whim, I asked Ed if he had anything Maritime inspired. (You may remember that I’m into the anchor sweatshirt these days.) Ed said that he had only ONE of my favorite flowy tops in a green coral print, and it was my size. He was showing it later that day on the runway at a fashion show in San Francisco.

I took it! I’ll be Little Mermaid this Summer, and I can already envision the eye makeup and accessories that I will do to play this up!

But wait! Flowy top is also a dress?

Yes indeed, this is true. All you do is pull it down over your hips to enjoy a mini dress.

Don’t believe me?

Here’s a shot of me in the Conception top, at the Hard Rock Fashion Show in Seattle. It’s the same pattern, just in the colorful Cruise Line collection.

Here’s a look at me wearing this as a dress in New York City during Fashion Week. Sorry in advance for the despair in the video, for having not gotten an invitation to Tommy Hilfiger’s party…

The red carpet

JeanOfAllTrades invited Lucky Duck out to the Zebra Club’s fashion show at Piano Bash in Bellevue. We walked the red carpet on our way in and were promptly given “Blogger” badges.

Lucky Duck managed to get on the runway, for the second time in September.

I wore the same shoes I wore to the Badgley Mischka Fashion Show in New York City. They’re the Badgley Mischka Desire booties. (Thanks, Jean, for capturing these photos of what I was wearing!)

And for an outfit, I wore my black flowy top by Conception, an up and coming designer out of Santa Monica. We saw this in the video that I made during my first night at Fashion Week.

When the show started, a performer came out and rapped as the DJ mixed tunes. I thought this was awesome. I didn’t see any live singing during fashion week… and that would have been a-maze-ing. If you recall, Nicki Minaj showed up at the Betsey Johnson show, and Betsey opened her show with Nicki’s “Moment 4 Life.”

Jean found a video of the show. It runs about two minutes, and Jean and I made it in at the 9 second mark!

Lucky Duck attends the Betsey Johnson show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

My seat at Betsey Johnson Fashion Week

Lucky Duck has a great seat at Betsey Johnson’s show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center.

Today, I was lucky to attend Betsey Johnson’s show at 6:00 p.m. at Lincoln Center in New York City. I wore three Betsey pieces – a pair of killer gold studded heels (with leopard print soles), a long crown necklace, and gold rose earrings.

Here’s a video of me explaining my outfit before heading out.

I arrived early and the guy taking tickets remembered me from last year, which was really nice. He looked out for me and got me to the front of the line.

When I got into The Theater, I found my seat and immediately dove into my hot pink swag bag. What was inside? Really good chocolate, Stila pink gloss, Stila peacock eye pencil, Betsey perfume, and Betsey hot pink hair extensions.

That’s when I looked up and saw the entourage and cloud of blue hair making their way down to their seats… it was Nicki Minaj!!! She was magnificent.

Nicki Minaj at Betsey Johnson

And as the lights went down, Nicki Minaj was the first song in the show! I recorded the first minute or two of the show to show its powerful start.

Betsey Johnson showed some awesome stuff! In this particular show, underwear was a big thing, and most of the models were incorporating underwear and bras into the actual outfits. I saw several different skeleton patterns, which was cool because I just bought myself skeleton rain boots in SoHo yesterday!

Here’s more of the show. I picked a clip that includes one of my very favorite songs. The Cataracs, Bass Down Low.

But without question the end of the show is the BEST. You’ll see the last model exit and then wait for it – Betsey Johnson herself comes out, dancing, cartwheeling, and baby kissing her way down the run way! She is followed by underwear models carrying balloons. It was unreal. If you only pay attention to one thing in this blog post, please watch this video.

The videos are cool because they’re raw and offer a duck’s eye view of the show. However, it’s pretty obvious that I am not working with super professional equipment here. So if you want to check out close ups of Betsey’s beautiful line, try this link to The New York Post’s pics! The designs are fantastic.
