The Peninsula Beverly Hills

The Peninsula Beverly Hills

Lucky Duck checks in to The Peninsula Beverly Hills.

And he’s one lucky duck. The Peninsula Beverly Hills is a very, very special place, for so many reasons… they really think of everything here, and it feels like heaven to be a guest.

Let me start by talking about the Rooftop Garden and the Roof Garden Swimming Pool, one of my very favorite places on the planet.

You don’t have to buy a cabana to enjoy the pool (although I highly recommend it!) The Peninsula staff is happy to set up chairs for you on the pool deck for free.

As you hang out at the pool, keep an eye our for cold towels and complimentary treats on the hour (like pomegranate lemonade, an ice pop, or a piece of fruit.)

They also do complimentary foot massages and offer a killer menu! Three of my favorites include the Papaya, the lobster BLT, and the jumbo prawns.

During the summer, The Peninsula cooks up “Ribs on the Roof” – a fun BBQ experience at The Rooftop Garden. It’s a great time to visit, try the ribs, and take advantage of their summer specials.

While we’re on the subject of food on The Rooftop Garden, I saw Warren Beatty having lunch here on this last visit. Also, Rachel Zoe was in the elevator with me heading back down to her room. The Rooftop Garden is so nice. Here’s an example of the wonderful hearty, but healthy breakfast I enjoyed on the roof before flying back to Seattle: The Caramelized Pineapple and the Roasted Veggie Frittata.

The personalized touches are pretty impressive.

When you arrive in your room, your pillowcases sport your initials, and you can take your pillowcase home. I must have about eight of these by now, and they never get old.

The hotel’s general manager will leave a very nice personal note. I was so happy to see that our note was written by hand.

Also, if they know that you’re attending a special event, The Peninsula Beverly Hills will personalize a treat for you, alongside your complimentary fresh fruit bowl. On this visit, they put out an Oscar’s themed set of desserts, including a chocolate film strip and golden stars on the plate.

When I attended the Badgley Mischka grand opening on Rodeo Drive last year, they put out Badgley Mischka themed treats. (Swoon!)

The house car is always impressive. They’ll drive you in it within so many miles of the hotel, and you never know what you’re going to get: The Escalade, Lincoln Town Car, The Rolls Royce Phantom, or The Rolls Royce Ghost.

A harpist will play during tea time in The Living Room, and at night, Antonio Castillo plays the piano (and he’s amazing.) He takes requests and can play whatever you want. He’s also funny. I truly enjoy sitting in The Living Room and watching him play. It’s actually an honor, as he’s played for some very famous people like Billy Joel and several U.S. Presidents.

The Belvedere is a AAA Five Diamond restaurant in The Peninsula that is absolutely stunning. Personally, I enjoy sitting outside under the lemon trees, next to the bubbling fountain. The fresh lemon ricotta pancakes taste so good under the clear sky and lemon trees!

Chief Concierge, James Little, runs an impressive staff that’s the best in the business. (Hi Scott! Hi Nicole!)

For example, check out this article, that is so totally true about how The Peninsula can make anything happen… I can attest to this. When I wanted to go to the beach on my first visit to Beverly Hills, James found a backpack and filled it with towels, sunblock, bottled water, and snacks, so that I would be comfortable.

I can’t wait to return to Southern California. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to get away.

But in the meantime, I can rest my head on my personalized pillowcases and dream of going back.
