Day 23, Year 2: 9/11 in New York City

My heart and thoughts go out to all of the victims and the heroes of September 11th.

I’m sitting out on the pier right now, looking out at the massive beam of light making its way up from Ground Zero to the heavens, as if New York City is telling the fallen, “We will never forget.”

It’s surreal to think back on that Tuesday morning and recall what it all meant at the time. I was student teaching and watched the Towers fall on a television with 30 high school students. We all grew up before the second period bell rang.

The last 13 years have gone by quickly, and so many things have changed in the world. I will say that the events of 9/11 have made me really appreciate the value of time and the importance of being kind.

Let me know what you think...
